Comparison of popular payment gateways in Poland - PayU, Przelewy24, and Tpay

Online payment systems offer significant convenience, particularly in speed, surpassing traditional bank transfers.

When selecting a payment system for your business, it's essential to consider several factors:

To help you choose, we've looked at three popular online payment systems in Poland: PayU, Przelewy24, and Tpay, and we'll tell you what we found based on our experience.

PayU

To activate PayU, there's a fee of PLN 199, but sometimes there are discounts available. PayU accepts payments from MasterCard and Visa cards, bank transfers, PayPal, GooglePay, ApplePay, BLIK, SMS, and recurring payments.

Transaction fees vary and are based on your company's sales volume and industry. Typically, they're around 2.3% plus a fixed fee of 30-35 cents per transaction. PayU doesn't charge extra for chargebacks and refunds to customers (only the regular transaction fee applies). Plus, you can make instant and unlimited free withdrawals from your transition account, and logging in is easy with just one click.

Przelewy24

To sign up with Przelewy24, you need to make a verification transfer of PLN 1.50. They support the same payment methods as PayU, Premium SMS, SkyCash, and mPay. They also accept PBK, American Express, and JCB cards, along with payment by QR code and integration with PayPal, GooglePay, and ApplePay.

Transaction fees range from 1.9% to 3.2%, depending on your chosen payment method. Przelewy24 doesn't charge fees for refunds to customers or for chargeback services (if you handle refunds manually). You can withdraw funds from your account for free and as many times as you want. Additionally, Przelewy24 allows transactions in different currencies, helping you avoid currency conversion costs.

Tpay

Opening a Tpay account costs 10 PLN. Tpay lets you pay using credit cards, bank transfers, PayPal, Google Pay, Premium SMS, IKO, mPay, or BLIK. The transaction fee is 1.59%, but fees for payments through cards, PayPal, or Google Pay vary. Chargebacks cost 20 PLN each, and customer refunds cost 0.90 PLN. You can withdraw money from your account anytime; the first four monthly withdrawals are free, but any more will cost 2 PLN each.

Our choice

Our review found that Przelewy24 offers the best conditions, low fees, affordable signup, and support for multiple currencies. It's compatible with our technology stack, including the Laravel PHP framework and Angular.

It's wise to inquire about a tailored offer for your company. Each payment gateway has strengths, so consider your business's needs carefully. In our next article, we'll explore two well-known international payment systems: PayPal and Stripe.
